Passive aggression?

Page managed to get her fishing pole line wrapped around her sisters neck and walk across the room with the pole and start pulling on her like she had caught a fish! I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and they were in the play room right next to me. I heard Emma let out a scream like I had never heard before. When I walked in and realized what she was doing I unwrapped the line from her neck, checked her neck for bleeding (it was wrapped very tightly) and sent Page to time out, in that order. Emma was screaming for a while and when I got her to calm down I sat Page next to her, showed her Emma's neck and told her to apologize to her sister. She said "I apologize sister for fishing on your neck, I love you more than the stars in the sky." (I sing her a song that says "I love you more than the stars in the sky.) Emma was quick to forgive, but she has quite a mark all the way around her neck. These pictures were taken about 1 1/2 hours after the incident. I feel so bad for poor Emma, she has to take so much abuse from her big sister!

Page's Dream

Page had a dream. She told me that she had a dream about the boys and girls at church. I asked her what they were doing and she said that they were playing. I then asked her what she was doing in the dream. She told me that she was cleaning up the toys they had been playing with. When I told my mom about the dream she had one thing to say, "only your child would be cleaning in a dream." Will and I thought it was pretty funny.

Emma in Camo

This is for my brothers! The camo onesie was a gift to Page and now Emma fits into it. Hope you enjoy Chris and Kevin.

Thank you Nonna & Poppy

Thank you Nonna and Poppy for the gifts you sent to the girls. Page loves anything with princesses on them right now, so of course she picked the pink princess towel and "gave" Emma the purple flower towel. Page also managed to take Emma's cheerio book as her own. She did share with Emma once yesterday, but Emma is figuring out she can just grab things out of Page's hand and either throw it or push it across the floor. It is really quite funny to watch her try to get away with something Page was playing with. Emma loved the packaging the towel came in, as you can see! The girls loved getting the package. Thanks so much.

Epilepsy Observation Room

We headed back to the hospital yesterday morning for Emma. She started having clusters of head drops to one side on Wednesday. She was admitted to the epilepsy observation room for a 24 hour evaluation. It was such short notice that I had to bring Page with us to the hospital until Will could come get her. We were blessed to have a suite with so much room for the girls to play and climb. Will got there around 2:00. Emma had already been fitted with the electrodes and cap and I was trying to get both girls settled down. Page was so upset about Emma crying and my holding her down while they did it and Emma was upset for obvious reasons! I nearly lost it myself with both girls screaming for me while I had to hold Emma down and try to comfort Page. I managed to hold it together and Will finally arrived to take Page home. He spent some time with Emma and then left for the afternoon. They came back that night so we could have dinner together and so Page could see that everything was okay. We were discharged this afternoon with WONDERFUL news. What Emma is having is not seizure related at all. They are calling it a movement disorder or "ticks" that she will more than likely grow out of. Our stay at the hospital was wonderful.
Everyone was so kind and the food was amazing. Will thinks it is so funny that I keep talking about the food, but I felt like I was eating at an amazing restaurant. I had pesto with grilled chicken, grilled salmon with cucumber melon relish, grilled portobello sandwich on rosemary foccacio, key lime pie, cheesecake, and the list goes on and on. I haven't ever been to a hospital with such good food.
The saddest part of the experience was the baby boy in the room next to us had a seizure this morning and it sounded so painful for him. He was vomiting and gagging and crying. I was crying just listening from my room. I am so grateful that I don't have to watch my child go through something like that. I am so grateful that my kids are as healthy as they are.

Our first garden

We are growing blueberries, tomatoes, basil, parsley, rosemary, squash, zucchini, bell peppers and green onions. Our garden is really taking off and Page is enjoying the process, which is why we started the garden in the first place. I really look forward to when I can go outside and pick some veggies for dinner! I may just do this every year. I haven't done this since I was a girl with my family.

Emma is taking steps!

My sweet little baby girl is starting to walk! Pretty soon she will be a sassy little toddler like Page. What will I do with 2 of them?! Emma took a step last night and Will and I were both there to see it. My mom had said that Emma had taken a step while she was watching her during her stay with us, but she was the only one to see it. Well we saw it last night and she has been trying all day to do it again. She will only take one step and lunge towards whatever she is going for, but she is stepping!

A funny side note is that we went to Page's friend's house today for a play date and Page asked the little girl "Abby, do you love me?" Abby said "Yes" and Page followed with "Why do you love me Abby?" Nothing like a 2 year old to ask another 2 year old WHY she loved her. I thought it was so funny. Anyway, Abby said "I love you Page" and then they hugged and gave each other a kiss. All I could think about was how badly I wanted my video camera to record that moment.

Bye Bye Maw Maw

We had to say goodbye to Maw Maw this morning. The trip there was fine, the trip home was not so good. Emma screamed the entire 45 minute ride back and Page did not want anyone to talk to her. She was upset with us because she wanted us to buy her an airplane ticket so she could go home with Maw Maw. She cried about it until we told her we were not flying today and that we had to leave the airport; then she just got mad and told us not to talk to her! May I remind everyone that she is only 2! I had flashbacks of myself as a teenager.

The visit was so nice. The highlight of the trip was when Emma started mimicing my mom snoring. My mom had fallen asleep on the sofa one afternoon. Page was sleeping and Emma had just woken up from a nap. I warmed her a bottle and sat on the sofa to feed her. Emma wouldn't eat, she just stared at my mom. Suddenly she started making noises EXACTLY like my mom's snores. I lauged so hard that I woke my mom up. Emma did it for a while then got hungry enough to return to the bottle.

The Discovery Garden

The Natural History Museum

Page did the "dino dig" which was no more than a sand box full of plastic dinosaur bones that had not been covered up from the last visitors!

This was full of sesame seeds and dinosaur bones. There were brushes to wipe the seeds off of the bones. Page had a great time doing this while Emma had a great time eating the sesame seeds.


The first dinosaur we saw and Page was so excited that she ran straight into the glass trying to get close. She had to sit down for a minute while she recovered from the hard blow to her head.


Emma wanted to get in with the mammoth. We had to pull her out 3 times.

The Aquarium

For Maw Maw's last day in Dallas we went to Fair Park. We hit 3 hot spots: the Aquarium, the Natural History Museum and the Discovery Garden. Here are some pics of us at the aquarium. Page is waving hi to a VERY large turtle in the last picture. She was running through the place screaming "come see this, come see this." At one point she stopped running and screaming and we all went running to see why she had stopped yelling at everyone in the place. She had climbed on the rails to say hi to the turtle. She also ran up to a little boy and said "come see this big fish, come see, come see!" He must have been shy because he just stared at her and then went to his dad. Emma also had a great time, she was squealing and banging on the glass of the smaller tanks.

Swimming with Maw Maw

The girls are enjoying Maw Maw's visit with us so much! The pool is now a daily activity and Emma is loving it now. The trick is that we have to put the water in the pool in the morning and let the sun warm it all day. She likes her pool water, and bath water, to be very warm. She played in the pool for over an hour the day these were taken!

Happy 9 Months Emma!

Emma is 9 months old today! We celebrated yesterday with cake since we had made one for Mother's Day. She had her doctor's appointment this morning and is 17 lbs. 5 oz. (25%) and 28 1/2 inches tall (80%). She got 1 shot and no sleep today. She decided that she had no need for sleep today. She had chicken and apples for dinner tonight. It was our first attempt to give her meat and she loved it. We also gave her banana stars for dessert and she ate them by the handful. We had just been giving her cheerios after meals so these was her first "stars." Page loved them when she was a baby and still asked for some tinight when I opened the can.

Happy Mother's Day

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Mother's Day. I enjoyed having my own mother here with me for this holiday. Nonna and Poppy sent some flowers and I got some Crocs flip flops that I have been wanting. If you haven't tried Crocs yet, let me be the one to tell you that they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever put on my feet! We ordered lunch from Carrabba's. Will's pasta had a plastic strip in it and the noodles tasted like glue. I called later that day to tell the mamager what had happened and he gave us dinner for free. We have had quite a bit of pasta today!
