Vacation Pics . . . . Baton Rouge

Here are pictures from the first half of our vacation. So much to say about vacation, but first let me update you on my kiddos! Emma had her 2 year check-up this morning. She is 24 pounds now! She has moved up into the 25% for weight and is in the 50% for height, although I can't remember how tall she was ... oops! The biggest news is that Liam slept through the night last night! I fed him at 10:00 and woke up at 5:00 soaking wet and thinking something was wrong with him. He was perfectly fine and sound asleep. (I had to wake him up 15 minutes later because I couldn't stop leaking.) I will let you know if he keeps it up! We are so happy to be home and Will is so happy to have us back. I came home to a spotless house and we have managed to destroy it in less than 24 hours, but that is what happens with 3 kids, lol! I will post pictures from the second half of the trip tomorrow.

Elmo cake!

Kerri left yesterday afternoon and made it to Baton Rouge without throwing and children in the Louisiana swamps from the sheer madness of a 10-hour drive with a 3-year old, 2-year old and a 2-month old. So, horray for that. We had a Emma's birthday party Wednesday night and wanted to post some pictures from that. The post title came from Emma who, after being shown her cake, walked around for 2 days saying with occasional screaming and excitement "Elmo cake! Elmo cake!" to let us know how much she liked what Kerri made for her. I think it came out great.

Happy Birthday Emma

Emma turned two today! We have a day filled with fun activities. She is VERY excited about her Elmo birthday cake and her lunch date at McDonalds. (My hands are dyed red from the icing!) We will be having a small party for her at the house tonight and then I have to pack for our 2 week vacation. My mom is flying in this afternoon to help me drive since Will can't come. I will get Will to post pictures of the party tonight.

Smiles and Funnies

Liam has been smiling for 3 weeks now and I am just getting pictures of it. His new medicine seems to be helping a little bit. He doesn't seem to be in as much pain but the fussy time at night is still going on. He is also having some side effects from the meds that I am not too happy about. It relates to his poop so I won't go into any detail. I am hoping that in a few days his system will adjust to the medication and things will settle down for him.

On a funny note. Page has been cracking us up around here lately. Friday she asked me if she could have a "hard drink." It took me a minute to remember that Will was drinking a soft drink the other day and I told her that she couldn't have any because it wasn't good for little girls. So after a few days of pondering she decided to ask for a hard drink. I couldn't help but laugh before we talked about the types of drinks that are healthy for little girls. Then, on Saturday, Will had given the girls baby bottles I received from the hospital to play with. He even put their milk in it for them. A few minutes later Page comes running out of the playroom with the top off of the bottle and shaking it around. I quickly told her to put the top back on to which she replied that she was making a milk shake. (We make milk shakes with soy milk, bananas and frozen strawberries all the time.) She is so funny sometimes!

Sprinkler Fun

Page loved playing in the sprinklers one night this week while I made dinner. Emma just wanted Will to hold her. She didn't like it very much. It is so hot!!

Update

We went to the pediatrician this morning and left with a prescription for Levsin. It is given to people with bladder spasms and irritable bowel syndrome. I gave it to him at 12:15 this afternoon and fed him. Well, I tried to feed him. He nursed for 10 minutes on one side and then was passed out cold. I could not wake him up for anything. He then proceeded to sleep until 3:30 at which point I fed him again. This time he stayed awake and then played for about 30 minutes. He started yawning so I rocked him and put him to bed about 4:30 and he has been sleeping ever since; it is now 6:00. I don't want to jump the gun, but this seems like a miracle cure to me! I even got a nap today, hooray! I will keep everyone updated on how Liam is doing, but so far things are great. Thanks so much for all of your prayers. I know it is the only thing keeping me afloat right now.

Happy Anniversary

Today is our 5 year anniversary. Yes, we have had 3 children in 5 years! I found a card that has a couple sitting on the front porch of a house that says "looks like we are in this together" and you open it up to the inside of the house in the kitchen where everything is destroyed and there are 3 kids sitting at the table eating breakfast. Then it says "isn't it wonderful." I laughed out loud in the store when I found it and again when I gave it to him this morning. It so encapsulated our life right now that I had to pass up all the romantic cards and get this one. I am headed to the doctor's office this morning for Liam because things are not getting even the slightest bit better. In fact I think it is getting worse. Now he is crying most of the day too. I have reached my capacity for stress and am not leaving the office without a prescription for something! 8 weeks of no sleep a, a screaming baby, and 2 toddlers (one who is potty training again) has left me a ball of shattered nerves with no patience left. Luckily I have a wonderful husband who will not be expecting a romantic evening between the two of us and will be helping me clean the house and giving me some time to take a long shower tonight! Our friends Vivian and Scott are bringing us dinner tonight since I declined a babysitter. I just couldn't muster up the energy to go on a date tonight. I will update later with news about Liam.

Happy Birthday To Me!

It's my last year in the 20 something age group! I am 29 today and have had a great birthday. Will's parents came in for a visit; they arrived Friday evening. Will and his dad took the girls to the community college to see the fireflies that night. Saturday morning we went to the Farmer's Market downtown and got some goodies. The pictures are from our time there. The last two pictures are from the ride home, they were so tired from being up so late the night before and then waking up at 5:30 am. I thought for sure they would take a good nap after being in the heat and having so little sleep, but they didn't. So, that afternoon I got a haircut and some time alone. (Not much because I had to go between feedings, but every little bit helps!) Then, that night Will and I went out to eat, without any children, between feedings for Liam. He is eating every 3 hours now so I am able to do things between feedings and it helps so much. This morning the girls slept late and we missed church, so we went to Sam's to get some things. Then home for lunch cake. I can't have milk because of Liam so I got an angel food cake topped with fresh, organic strawberries we got at the market. So yummy! Will's parents headed back to Baton Rouge this afternoon, but we had a great visit. Thanks for everything Nonna and Poppy! (My kids think it is Christmas every time my parents or Will's parents visit.)Will got me a steamer for my birthday. I had asked for one earlier in the year and he remembered. Now I don't have to iron anymore, and that is very exciting! Thanks honey, you have made this such a special birthday.
