Emma is now 19 months old and went in yesterday for her 18 month check-up. The good news is that we are finally caught up on all of her immunizations and she will be able to have her 2 year check-up done on time. We have been playing catch-up since she was a year old because of illnesses and injuries. Emma weighed in at a mere 21 lbs, 1 oz. She dropped from 25% in weight to 5%. The pediatrician was a little concerned with this and wants us to see a dietician. I am actually looking forward to that appointment because she has recently been refusing foods, something that Page has never done, and is so limited on what she can eat. She is still wearing her 12 month clothes and is just so tiny it worries me. She did have a considerable growth spurt, however, measuring at 33' which puts her in the 75% for height. Page has always measured between the 75% - 90% in height so Emma's height is actually catching up with her sister. (She has never been above 50% for height.) For those of you long time readers of the blog, you may recall about 6 months ago when I brought Emma to the ER because of a head injury. Well, it is now time to have her head checked again to make sure the hairline fracture, if there was one, has healed. I am not looking forward to putting Emma through that again and am pretty sure she will fight a bit more than last time. Since I am pregnant I won't be able to be next to her during the scan so that bothers me too. We were also instructed to follow up with her neurologist to discuss her development. I think she is fine, but the pediatrician was a little concerned with her dleays in talking and what seems to be a lack of kinesthetic awareness. She trips all the time and walks into walls and tables quite a bit. Since we had neurological issues in the past, she thought it would be best to follow up on that. I have an appointment next week for that and will keep you all informed. I really think she is just a late bloomer and is a bit clumsy, but i am not a doctor so we will go.
Page has made some drastic improvements in her behavior the past few weeks. We have been having some issues ever since we moved them in together and it finally seems to be better. Will made a chart for her to put stickers on when she has a good day. When she has a good week she gets to pick out a prize. (Yes, I have resorted to bribery.) Last week she had 3 good days and this week 5 good days. It looks like she will be getting her princess bubble bath this week. She has really turned a corner and I am so thankful!
I am doing fine. I apologize for no belly pics, but we still don't have a camera. The good news is that Will's parents are getting us one for Easter and I will post a belly pic as soon as we get it. I am almost 26 weeks along and trying to enjoy the last part of the second trimester before things really start getting rough. I have another ultrasound a week from today with my specialist and then the following week I have my glucose test with my OB. I am already dreading that test. I don't drink very fast and trying to drink that stuff so quickly brings me to the edge of being sick and having to start all over again every time I have to take it. I am rereading my books on natural childbirth and am getting the nursery ready for our little boy. I want to be ready by 32 weeks because that is when things start to go wrong with my condition and the specialist told me to be ready to have a baby any time after 32 weeks. I am still believing and praying for a 40 week, healthy, natural delivery, but not going to take any chances on being unprepared as having 3 kids under the age of 4 is going to be enough of a stress!
We are having the most beautiful weather today and it is supposed to continue this weekend so we will probably be outside most of the weekend enjoying the lovely weather. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
